MOROCCO TOUR FAQs
Q - What are the Passport & Visa Requirements?
A - If you hold a full passport form the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or any EU Country. You do NOT require a visa to enter Morocco as a tourist for up to 90 days. Note however that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of entry.
South Africans are amongst those who do require a visa. You can obtain your visa from any Moroccan Embassy or Consulate. Always check your visa requirement.

Q - What Documents do I Need?
A - You will need your Full Motorcycle Driving Licence, an International Driving Licence, valid Passport, Personal & Vehicle Insurance Documents, your Motoring Association and/or equivalent Breakdown Numbers.
Q - What are the Driving Requirements?
A - The minimum age for Driving in Morocco is 21 years. You must carry your Driving Licence & Passport at all Times. International Driving Permits are advisable although not mandatory. However Rainbow Overland advises you to obtain an International Driving Permit, from the AA. Especially if your domestic driving license dose NOT have your photograph on it. As the Moroccan Police expect to see photograph on documents.

Q - Will my motorbike insurance cover me for travel in Morocco?
A - You must give your Insurance Company a call to tell them of your destination(s) & duration of stay. Your Insurance Company will issue a green card or amend your insurance policy to provide cover.
Please Note: Not all UK Insurance Companies will cover you for Morocco Travel. Ensure that you check. If your Insurance Company will not cover you for Morocco. Contact us, we may be able to help.
Your UK insurance will cover you to ride in all EU Countries. You must check with your Insurance Company how many days they allow you to be outside the UK for.
Q - Will I be carrying my luggage all the time?
A - If you join up with us at Santandar, the support vehicle will be with us all the way. If you drive down to meet us in Algeciras then you will need to carry all your luggage to this point. The support vehicle remains with us throughout the tour. It will carry your excess luggage, allowing you to have a lighter ride. It carries fuel, water, snacks, It is fully equipped to deal with breakdowns, and repairs en route. If your Motorcycle breaks down and can not be repaired we will carry the bike for you, until we can get to a garage for repairs or until we reach Spain. You MUST have breakdown and recovery insurance, to get your bike home.
Q - What if I get sick while on tour?
A - You must ensure that you have sufficient insurance cover to have you and your motorcycle repatriated to your country of residence should you be unable to ride at all due to illness. We have space in our support vehicle to carry some motorbikes, and passengers. If you are seriously ill we will get you to a hospital.
Q - Do we ride as a group?
A - We do not ride in a convoy but rather in small groups with each group establishing their own pace and style of riding. You may ride alone, in small groups. For those with less experience I will be riding on the tour and you can ride with me. We will have intercoms systems available for a small number of riders, I will give you help and advice as we ride. I may or may not be riding everyday, depends upon circumstances. The support vehicle will not drive the whole route with us, it will stick to the main roads.
Q - How much experience is required?
A - Experience in touring abroad is not required! Your guide will ensure that you are given the correct advice and care. It is essential that you are comfortable riding your motorbike and that you ride your own style and pace. We will take care of the rest.
Q - What distances do we cover each day and do we have rest days?
A - Distances will vary between 100 & 380 miles per day. The shorter mileage days will be in Morocco. The route is designed & mileages calculated to accommodate terrain, climate, temperature, & points of interest. Adequate time is provided to relax and even enjoy some Moroccan retail therapy. Rest days are built in.
Q - Will my bike be secure at night?
A - All our accommodations are selected with bike security in mind. We do however recommend that you bring your disc locks or security chains. Our support vehicle will carry these for you during the day.
Q - What tools & spares do I need to bring?
A - Rainbow Overland's support vehicle will carry adequate tools and equipment to make repairs in transit. You are required to bring with you any spares or parts that you may need. We can fit them but we can not always buy them for you. Bring along a workshop manual for you bike if you have one. We recommend that you bring spares such as bulbs, fuses, tube, puncture repair kit etc.
Q - What happens if my bike breaks down?
A - AA or RAC will provide emergency breakdown and recovery in Europe. It is therefore essential that you obtain the cover prior to starting the tour. There is no similar service in Morocco at the moment. Rainbow Overland Tours will ensure that if the motorcycle can not be repaired en route, we will get you to a garage that can repair your motorbike for you. You can then rejoin the tour. If your bike is not repairable we can carry some bikes, with us, back to Spain, where your breakdown cover will take over.
NOTE: In the unlikely event that additional services are required in Morocco the client would be responsible for all recovery/repair and associated costs incurred including accommodation, meals, telephone charges, etc.
ENSURE: that your motorcycle is well maintained and serviced prior to leaving UK, we have facilities for servicing your bike en route if required. Your must provide the materials a small charge for labour will be made.
Q - What range should my fuel tank have?
A - You should be familiar with your fuel tank range. Our support vehicle will carry emergency fuel should you misjudge your range. Each day we will provide you with details on the distances to the filling stations. N.B. It is not necessary to carry additional fuel / jerry cans on your bike.
Q - Will I have access to cash machines or banks?
A - Money is easily obtained at most ATM machines, banks or currency exchange offices. Visa, Master card, Cirrus & Plus network cards will be accepted at 'hole in the wall' machines. BMCE, BCM & Banque Populaire will advance cash against your credit card. There is a limit for cash advances of around 5000 dh(450 €) per week. Also check what your weekly and daily limit is for ATM machine withdrawals. Take some travellers cheques, plastic & some cash. Travellers cheques can be exchanged at most banks.
Q - How much money do I bring?
A - While travelling through Spain the Euro will be applicable. A moderate sum to cover lunch, dinner, snacks, and fuel will be required. Fuel can be purchased on all major credit cards. Allow equivalent of 20-30 Euros for lunch and dinner each day while en route through Spain. While travelling through Morocco, Moroccan Dirhams are required and these can only be purchased on entry into the country. Fuel in Morocco is at least 25% cheaper than in Europe. Credit cards are accepted at some garages in Morocco.
Q - Will I be able to use my credit card?
A - Widely accepted throughout Spain and in major stores, hotels, and fuel stations in Morocco.
Q - What are the accommodations like?
A - All the accommodation we have selected, are clean, comfortable, have secure bike areas, and serve excellent food. We use 2-3 star hotels some with swimming pools, traditional Kasbahs, and auberges.
Q - What if I must cancel and cannot join the tour?
A - We do have BOOKING CONDITIONS which we provide with all bookings. Your deposit secures a space on the tour and is non-refundable.
Q - What if Rainbow Overland cancels the tour?
A - We will use our best endeavors to ensure that there are no cancellations but reserve the right to cancel the tour should the minimum number of person stipulated within the tour details not be met. In this case all monies will be refunded minus a small administration charge. Please refer to our Booking Conditions for full details.
Q - What if we get delayed in the Ferry crossings?
A - We cannot be responsible for any unforeseen delays in ferry crossings to or from UK and to or from Morocco. In the event of a delay you will be responsible for providing your own meals and accommodations. If you miss the start date due to delays, you can join the tour at any point. The is always a way to contact us.
Q - Do I need travel and holiday insurance?
A - It is a condition of our holidays that you have full travel insurance including medical insurance, repatriation, and cancellation cover, including recovery for your motorcycle.
